Xin chào! – Hello!
My name is Tam and I’m a boba-holic . That is why I opened So TEAlicious Café. I have always wanted to run my own business, but only until last year, I gathered up all my courage and effort to make that dream become reality. I could not do it without my husband’s support, and my family’s and friend’s encouragements.
When I first moved to Regina from Vietnam in 2010, I was quite surprised that bubble tea here is so different compared to what I was used to in Vietnam. Slushies made from powders are the only ones popular here. I missed the creamy and milky black tea with the chewy tapioca pearls or the refreshing green tea with fruity flavours. They are great drinks to cool me down during those hot summer days in Vietnam. I often joked around with my best friend, Laura, that if I won a lottery ticket, I would open a bubble tea shop to serve the authentic bubble tea. No, I did not win lottery, but I got inspired by my husband’s cousin- Stacy and her husband. They followed their dream and made it come true. So, one night in the summer of 2021, in the middle of the pandemic, I founded So TEAlicious! Café. I want to follow my dream and share my passion with you all, and perhaps turn you into a bobaholic like myself .
Every recipe we serve, I researched, tested, and revised myself to ensure the tastes, quality, and flavors are great and unique. At our shop, all drinks are made with love and pride. We also offer dairy free/milk alternatives and sugar free options. I want every customer who walk through our doors to leave with a TEAlicious drink and the best customer service experience.
Please visit us at 10-3701 Duke Avenue, Regina, SK or follow us on Facebook @SoTEAliciousCafe.
History of Bubble Tea/Boba Tea
The origins of bubble tea are unclear, but it is thought to have originated in Taiwan in the 1980s. This sweet and refreshing beverage can be traced back to Taichung City in Taiwan in the 1980s. It was first created by Liu Han Chieh, who combined milk tea with black tapioca balls. The drink became popular with students, who would buy it from street vendors for breakfast or a snack. Another claim for the invention of bubble tea comes from the owner of the Hanlin Tea Room of Tainan City in Taiwan, Tu Tsong-he was inspired to create bubble tea when he saw white tapioca balls for sale in 1986. His idea was to create something new that would be popular among customers who were bored of drinking plain old boring teas.
Bubble tea has been a favorite drink in East and Southeast Asia since the 1990s. Its popularity is only getting stronger as it becomes more prevalent around the world today, which makes sense given its refreshing nature! The popularity of this drink probably stems from its unique combination of flavors and textures – the hot tea combined with cold milk and chewy tapioca pearls is a refreshing and fun experience for everyone.
With the rise of social media platforms, bubble tea has become more popular than ever. One reason for this is that it doesn’t have to be a special occasion or time to enjoy drinks with friends and family; you can just grab one at your local corner store! Additionally, there are multiple flavors available – which makes choosing easy-besides flavour preference. There’s no need to worry about having too much sugar either since most cups will come unsweetened unless specifically stated otherwise by customers who want their drink without any sweeteners added into them.
In recent years, the popularity of bubble tea has exploded all over the world. If you’re looking for something new to try or want to introduce your friends and family to this delicious drink, check out one of the many boba shops in your area. Whether you’re a teenager looking for a new drink to try or an adult who loves a good bubble tea session with friends, there’s no doubt that boba is here to stay! With so many flavors and variations available, everyone is sure to find their perfect cup of boba tea! (https://fanaledrinks.com/blogs/blog/the-history-of-boba-tea)
